Mel Edison is a middle-aged Manhattan advertising executive on the brink of a breakdown. Living in a 14th-floor apartment, he rages at the noisy neighbours, the clanging garbage-cans and the endless racket of the city. And, when he is fired, he finally cracks up. Mel doesn’t hesitate to voice his opinions loudly and often about the things that bother him, and as the list grows, his tenuous grip on mental stability begins to loosen.
