White Riot by Natalie Mitchell at The Space 14 July

Yoca Productions presents White Riot, by Natalie Mitchell, at The Space Theatre, in Isle of Dogs, east London, from 14 to 25 July 2010.

Directed by Abdul Shayek.

The play uses the framework of football violence to explore a father and son’s relationship, and discusses tolerance, pride, changing generational attitudes, the role class plays in higher education and the complexity of aspiration.

Twenty-year-old football fan Danny is the first person in his family to go to university, and today is his first visit home in months. It’s also a big day in the football calendar and an even bigger day for Danny’s dad Robert. Today is the day Robert will secure his reputation as one of Millwall’s faces. But how does Danny fit into this world now?
