Andrew Scott, Juliet Stevenson and Sharon D. Clarke win at 2019 Critics' Circle Theatre Awards
A Very Expensive Poison and Come From Away have taken the awards for best new play and best new musical respectively, as the winners for the 2019 Critics' Circle Theatre Awards were announced at the Prince of Wales Theatre on 11th February 2020.
Andrew Scott took home the award for best actor for his performance in Present Laughter at the Old Vic, with Juliet Stevenson and Sharon D. Clarke both receiving an award for best actress for starring in The Doctor and Death of a Salesman respectively.

Best actor - Andrew Scott for Present Laughter at the Old Vic

Most promising newcomer - Sam Tutty for Dear Evan Hansen at the Noel Coward Theatre
Best Shakespearean performance - Hammed Animashun for A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Bridge Theatre
Best director - Jamie Lloyd for Evita at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, Betrayal at the Harold Pinter Theatre and Cyrano de Bergerac at the Playhouse Theatre
Best designer - Tom Scutt for A Very Expensive Poison at the Old Vic
Most promising playwright - Jasmine Lee-Jones for seven methods of killing Kylie Jenner at the Royal Court
Special award for services to theatre - Paule Constable
