Cillian Murphy to star in Enda Walsh’s Grief is the Thing with Feathers in London
Peaky Blinders actor Cillian Murphy is to star in Enda Walsh's adaptation of the award-winning novel Grief is the Thing With Feathers, which is set to open in London.
The play, which is based on the book by Max Porter, tells the story of a widower and his sons who live in a London flat. As they each find ways to deal with the sudden passing of their mother/wife, a 'Crow' visits the Dad to take hold of his emotions.
Following a run in Ireland earlier this year, the play will run at the Barbican from 25th March to 13th April 2019, with an official opening on 28th March. It will then go on to run on Broadway at St Ann's Warehouse.
Cillian Murphy is known for playing Tommy Shelby in the BBC series Peaky Blinders, and also had starring roles in 28 Days Later and Dunkirk.
This play will see him reunite with writer Enda Walsh, after Murphy starred in his play Disco Pigs. The pair have also collaborated on works such as Ballyturk and Misterman at the National Theatre in London.
Produced by Wayward Productions, in association with Complicite, the play will have compositions by Teho Teardo, designs by Jamie Vartan, costumes by Christina Cunningham, lighting by Adam Silverman, sound by Helen Atkinson and video by Will Duke.
