Electra, by Sophocles, in a new version by Nick Payne, at the Gate Theatre, a fringe venue in Notting Hill Gate, west London, from 7 April to 14 May 2011.

Directed by Carrie Cracknell, designed by Holly Waddington, lighting by Guy Hoare, sound by Tom Mills. Produced by Gate Theatre production in association with the Young Vic

Cast includes Cath Whitefield (Electra), Madeleine Potter (Clytemnestra), Natasha Broomfield (Chrysothemis), Alex Price (Orestes), Martin Turner (Strophius) and Yasmin Garrad & Fern Deacon (Young Electra and Chorus)..

When a young Electra's father is murdered by her mother, her world changes irrevocably. Ten years on, bound by grief and unwilling to forgive, Electra surrenders to an-consuming desire for revenge that propels her toward a bloody and terrifying conclusion.
