Mistress Julie by Urgent Breath at Barons Court

Urgent Breath Theatre presents Mistress Julie, an adaptation of August Strindberg's 'Miss Julie', at the Barons Court Theatre, a 60-seat fringe venue, in the cellar below the Curtains Up Pub, West Kensington, from 2 to 7 July 2013.

Set the Deep South of the U.S.A. in 1926. A servants Independence Day party in full swing at a plantation in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. The heat of the cotton fields is heightening the passion and lust of the partygoers, no one is effected more than the young Miss Julie. She wants to dance with just one man, be loved by just one man, but does she realise how dangerous her choice of lover is? This adaptation focuses on the racial upheaval in the southern states known as the "Great Migration" and the struggle between power and love.
