The Leeds Playhouse production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe will transfer to London for a Christmas run at the Bridge Theatre, it has been announced.

Sally Cookson's production premiered at the Yorkshire theatre in 2017, and was the second production by Marianne Elliott and Chris Harper's new production company, which has gone on to produce Company and Death of a Salesman.

The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe will run at the Bridge Theatre from 9th November 2019 to 2nd February 2020.

The first book in CS Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia, the story was brought to the stage by Cookson with designer Rae Smith, writer in the room  Adam Peck, movement director Dan Canham, lighting designer Bruno Poet, sound designer Ian Dickinson with music by Benji Bower.

Casting for the London transfer is yet to be announced.

The play has been adapted for the stage several times before, and the last time it was seen in London was in 2013, when Rupert Goold and Michael Fentiman staged a production at Kensington Gardens.

It has also been announced that Zoe Wanamaker and Zrinka Cvitešić will star in the premiere of Nancy Harris' Two Ladies at the Bridge Theatre this summer. Click here to read more.
