Zoë Wanamaker and Zrinka Cvitešić will star as the first ladies of the US and France in the world premiere of Two Ladies at the Bridge Theatre, opening in September 2019.

Written by Nancy Harris, Two Ladies follows Hélène and Sophia, the first ladies of France and America who find themselves in a side room while their husbands are negotiating international crises. As their spouses clash politically, Hélène and Sophia have to decide whether to trust each other and their husband's decisions.

Wanamaker will return to the stage to appear in the production, recently playing Meg in the West End revival of The Birthday Party at the Harold Pinter Theatre. Since winning her first Olivier Award in 1979, Wanamaker has enjoyed a glittering career across stage and screen, with further performing credits including Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and My Family.

Cvitešić will make her Bridge Theatre debut in Two Ladies, after winning an Olivier Award for best actress in a musical for her performance as Girl in Once. Cvitešić has appeared in numerous productions for the Croatian National Theatre, including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Importance of Being Earnest and Romeo and Juliet.

Further casting for Two Ladies is to be announced.

The creative team for Two Ladies includes direction by Nicholas Hynter, set and design by Anna Fleischle, lighting by Johanna Town and sound by George Dennis.

Two Ladies is at the Bridge Theatre from 14th September to 26th October.
