UPDATE: Happy Days is postponed at Riverside Studios. Performances will now take place from 11 June - 25 Jul. 2021.

Samuel Beckett's Happy Days will be staged at Riverside Studios in 2021, it has been announced. Trevor Nunn will direct the 60th anniversary production at the off-West End venue.

Happy Days follows Winnie, a woman whose hopeful attitude towards life leads her to believe that good times are just around the corner. But, her sunny disposition can't last forever, and her existence, as well as her husband Willie's is later called into question.

Lisa Dwan will play Winnie. She's no stranger to Beckett's work, having starred in one-woman productions of The Beckett Trilogy & No's Knife. In London, she's starred in Margot, Diary of an Unhappy Queen at the Barbican and The Journey Between Us at Southwark Playhouse. On television, Dawn can be seen in Netflix's Top Boy as Lizzie.

Recently nominated for an Olivier Award for directing Fiddler on the Roof at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Trevor Nunn will direct Happy Days. His directorial credits stretch for over fifty years, including Les Miserables, Cats and Sunset Boulevard.

Casting for Willie is to be announced.

Arguably one of the twentieth-century's greatest dramatists, Samuel Beckett is a Nobel Prize-winning writer. His works include Waiting for Godot and Endgame, staged at the Old Vic in 2020.
