Production images have been released ahead of tonight's opening night of the Broadway transfer of The King and I at the London Palladium.

Director Bartlett Sher brings his Tony Award-winning Lincoln Center production to London with its stars Ken Watanabe and Kelli O'Hara in the central roles of the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens. They are joined by Na-Young Jeon and Dean-John Wilson as the young lovers Tuptim and Lun Tha, and Ruthie Ann Miles as Lady Thiang.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical was first seen in the West End in 1953 when it opened at the Palladium, and it returned to the same venue in 2000 starring Elaine Paige and Jason Scott Lee, and ran for almost two years at the theatre.

It has also been reported that this production of the musical has broken the Palladium box office record for the highest grossing week for an eight-performance week, grossing £1,058,317.50 for the week ending 30th June.

The King and I is at the London Palladium until 29th September.
