Filumena

***What the popular Press had to say**

"Filumena" has received great notices from the popular press: ALASTAIR MACAULAY of THE FINANICAL TIMES was very enthusiastic saying, "The impression left by Dench is beautifully disturbing." BENEDICT NIGHTINGALE of THE TIMES says "A wonderfully wise play." MICHAEL COVENEY of THE DAILY MAIL was particularly excited saying "The Peter Hall Company at the Piccadilly has done many fine things but none finer than this loving revival of one of the great Neapolitan comedies of Eduardo de Filippo." NICHOLAS DE JONGH of THE EVENING STANDARD" was equally excited saying, "As Dame Judi manages the climax of this bitter-sweet comedy, the happy sight of Filumena, allowing herself to succumb to the liberation of tears, is, like the production itself, the source of high theatrical joy." ANDREW ALRIDGE of THE STAGE describes the play as "Deliciously refreshing". However, JANE EDWARDES of TIME OUT is luke-warm about the play saying, "Hall's production falls flat and looks under-rehearsed when either of these two (Pennington and Dench) is off stage, but when on, the sparks fly."
