Present Laughter Information
Andrew Scott stars in Noël Coward comedy play Present Laughter at the Old Vic over 70 years after it was first performed in London in 1942. Tickets for Present Laughter are available now.
The story follows Garry Essendine, a successful comic actor who is about to embark on an African tour. Dealing with besotted admirers, he has to cope with his secretary, his wife and everyone around him as he begins to fall into a mid-life crisis. Discussing theatrical business, Essendine has to also deal with rumours of extra-marital relationships that could affect his career.
Present Laughter is at the Old Vic from 17th June to 10th August.
Andrew Scott will star as Garry Essendine in the upcoming production of Present Laughter, joining a long line of actors who have played the lead role including Ian McKellen, David Threlfall and Rik Mayall. Scott's stage credits include his critically-acclaimed performance in the Almeida Theatre's production of Hamlet, and his recent revival of Simon Stephens' Sea Wall, which he performed in at the Old Vic in the summer. On screen, Scott has starred in James Bond film Spectre, BBC series Sherlock as villain Moriarty, and he played the Priest in the second series of Pheobe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag.
