Esteemed writer Jack Thorne's joyous, atmospheric adaptation of the timeless Charles Dickens classic returns to The Old Vic following a successful run last Christmas. A Christmas Carol returns to The Old Vic in 2021, starring Stephen Mangan as Ebenezer Scrooge.
This new adaptation comes from the Olivier Award-winning playwright of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Jack Thorne, who returns to the theatre following Woyzeck, alongside Old Vic artistic director Matthew Warchus at the helm.
Based on Charles Dickens' beloved work, the play follows Ebenezer Scrooge on Christmas Eve, when he is visited by three ghosts, each showing him either scenes from his past, a view of the present of a peek into the future forcing the grumpy business owner to reevaluate his priorities and take stock on his life, just in time for Christmas morning.
