About Hadestown
Journey to the Underworld with this innovative retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice against a Depression-era backdrop at the Lyric Theatre. Book Hadestown tickets on London Theatre.
Hadestown follows Eurydice as she makes a desperate decision to work in Hades' hellish factory to escape poverty and the cold winter. Separated from Orpheus, he embarks upon a dangerous quest to bring her back. Their story interweaves with the mythic narratives of Hades and Persephone, while other iconic figures like Hermes and the Fates appear throughout the musical. The musical opened on Broadway in April 2019 and won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.
Chavkin and Mitchell are joined by an award-winning team, including set designer Rachel Hauck, costume designer Michael Krass, lighting designer Bradley King, choreographer David Neumann, and sound designers Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz.
