Shrek, released in 2001, revolutionised animated filmmaking, becoming the inaugural winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. A cultural phenomenon, Shrek continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
Debuting on Broadway in 2008, the musical earned eight Tony Award nominations, winning for Best Costume Design. The 2012 London premiere received four Olivier Award nominations, notably for Best New Musical, with Nigel Harman clinching the Best Supporting Actor award.
Shrek the Musical is currently embarking on a UK and Ireland tour through May and will make a final stop in London. The principal cast includes Antony Lawrence as Shrek, Joanne Clifton as Princess Fiona, James Gillan as Lord Farquaad, Brandon Lee Sears as Donkey, and Cherece Richards as Dragon, who will reprise their roles for the London engagement.
Under the direction and choreography of Nick Winston, with co-director Sam Holmes and set/costume designer Philip Witcomb, the creative team includes lighting designer Ben Cracknel, sound designer Ben Harrison, and projection designer Nina Dunn.
