Acclaimed writer Hanya Yanagihara’s second novel A Little Life quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. The Booker Prize-nominated novel about four college friends in New York City earned unanimous praise — it was later shortlisted for the National Book Award for Fiction. Now, Yanigahara collaborates with Koen Tachelet and Ivo van Hove on bringing her novel to the stage.

An eight-strong cast will deliver a marathon performance in this gripping adaptation. The core group of friends is played by BAFTA-nominated Happy Valley actor James Norton plays Jude, joined by Bridgerton’s Luke Thompson as Willem, It’s a Sin’s Omari Douglas as JB, and The Witcher’s Zach Wyatt as Malcolm. Between this quartet, they’ve worked on groundbreaking television series. Now, they come together for a bold, visionary production for the ages.

What is A Little Life about?

Four boys lived together in college and moved to New York City after graduation in search of a brighter future. They’ve all got different dreams: an aspiring actor named Willem, a budding painter named JB, an agitated architect named Malcolm, and a successful lawyer named Jude. Their lives revolve around Jude, a mysterious character who only opens up to Willem, creating tension between the friends.

As the decades fly by, Willem, JB, and Malcolm always find themselves drawn to Jude and his past. Even though Jude’s highly successful, he’s haunted by a past that comes to define him forever. When secrets come to light, the foursome finally learn what it means to love.
