Just For One Day tells the story of Live Aid and features iconic tracks from music legends like Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Queen, Status Quo, Diana Ross, Bryan Adams, and more. Watch as this new musical recounts how a global audience of over a billion people came together through rock 'n' roll, raising a remarkable $127 million for famine relief.
Live Aid, held on July 13, 1985, was a groundbreaking charity concert to combat Ethiopia's devastating famine. The event took place simultaneously at two iconic stadiums: Wembley Stadium in London, England, and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, USA. The historic event was one of the first internationally televised concerts, and an estimated 1.9 billion people tuned in to watch across 150 countries.
The multi-continent event saw some of the most memorable performances in music history, including Queen’s frontman, Freddie Mercury, delivering an electrifying set that also features in the recent Oscar-winning 2018 film “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, The Little Big Things) directs the musical written by John O’Farrell (Mrs Doubtfire, Something Rotten). The creative team includes orchestrator Matthew Brind, choreographer Ebony Molina, set designer Soutra Gilmour, costume designer Fay Fullerton, lighting designer Howard Hudson, sound designer Gareth Owen, and video and animation designer Andrzej Goulding.
