Be transported on a journey of self-discovery alongside Ali, an aspiring singer who decides to leave her tiny hometown to head to New York City in search of her mother. When she becomes a dancer at a burlesque club, she is swept into a glittering underground world of music and dance.
Burlesque The Musical is a musical that first began as a 2010 film starring Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell, Cam Gigandet, Stanley Tucci, Julianne Hough, Alan Cumming, and Peter Gallagher. The film won a Golden Globe for the song "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me."
Burlesque The Musical in London is written by Steven Antin and is based on his original film. Additional material is written by Kate Wetherhead. The songs in the musical are by Christina Aguilera, Sia, and Diane Warren. Additional songs are by Todrick Hall and Jess Folley.
Christina Aguilera is also an executive producer of Burlesque the Musical. In a statement, she said, "I'm proud that Burlesque The Musical is coming to London's West End! Our journey of making this film to bringing this show to the stage has been so special and exciting. Following our successful previews, having the show land in the West End later this year is a dream come true!"
Todrick Hall is also the director and choreographer of this production. Hall said, "This is a huge milestone in my life and career. I've always dreamt of being involved in the creative side of a brand new original musical, and I'm privileged, flattered and ecstatic to make my directorial debut with Burlesque The Musical!"
