About Ulster American

Woody Harrelson, Andy Serkis, and Louisa Harland star in David Ireland’s award-winning social satire Ulster American at the Riverside Studios. Book your Ulster American tickets on London Theatre today.

Follow an Oscar-winning American actor, an English director, and a Northern Irish playwright as they kick off rehearsals for a play that has the potential to reshape their careers. As they start realising their views are not aligned, chaos begins to unfold. This pitch-black comedy delves into power dynamics, cultural identity, and the difficulties of being a woman in the entertainment industry.

Woody Harrelson, an Emmy Award-winning actor known for his roles in True Detective and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, returns to the London stage after nearly two decades, taking on the character of Oscar-winning American actor Jay Conway. Harrelson earned three Academy Award nominations, including a 2018 Best Supporting Actor nod for his performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Harrelson's impressive filmography also includes the popular franchises The Hunger Games, Now You See Me, and Zombieland.

BAFTA and Emmy award-winner Andy Serkis, celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Gollum in Lord of the Rings, will join him. Serkis steps into the role of English director Leigh Carver. Completing the cast is Louisa Harland, known for her work in Derry Girls and Dancing at Lughnasa, who takes on the character of Northern Irish playwright Ruth Davenport.

Jeremy Herrin will direct David Ireland's dark satirical play alongside costume designer Max Jones, lighting designer Oliver Fenwick, and sound designer Emma Laxton. Ulster American had its world debut in 2018 at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, where the play received the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award and the Scotsman Fringe First Award.

Ulster American runs for a strictly limited eight-week period at Riverside Studios. Book Ulster American tickets on London Theatre.
