Lillian Hellman’s classic 20th-century drama, The Little Foxes, returns to the London stage in an exciting new revival starring BAFTA Award-winning actress Anne-Marie Duff (Bad Sisters). Book The Little Foxes tickets on London Theatre.
The Little Foxes is a play set in Alabama in 1900. Regina Hubbard (Anne-Marie Duff) desires freedom and wealth, but 20th-century society makes that incredibly difficult, especially when men are considered the only legal heirs. She watches as her two brothers manage the family inheritance, and soon, Regina creates a plan to obtain substantial wealth. But what will the repercussions of her schemes be?
Anne-Marie Duff said of the play, “The Little Foxes is a formidable play by a formidable writer – I couldn’t put it down. It’s a searing drama about corruption, betrayal and the relentless pursuit of power. At the heart of it is Regina, a charismatic yet ruthless character who, when the reins are unleashed, goes full force to take matters into her own hands.”
The Little Foxes in London has an excellent creative team, including Olivier Award-winning director Lyndsey Turner (The Witches, The Crucible), designer Lizzie Clachan (The Witches), lighting designer Lucy Carter (The Marriage of Figaro), sound designer Tingying Dong (A Doll’s House), and fight director Kev McCurdy (The Wizard of Oz).
The Little Foxes opened on Broadway on 15 February 1939, starring Tallulah Bankhead as Regina Hubbard. The show ran for 410 performances on Broadway before it began to tour the United States. Since then, there have been numerous revivals, and Lillian Hellman also wrote a screenplay for a film version of the play, which came out in 1941 and starred Bette Davis, Herbert Marshall, and Teresa Wright.
