Experience New York’s most vibrant block with Avenue Q, the hilariously rude puppet musical returning to the West End at the Shaftesbury Theatre under original Broadway director Jason Moore.
More than two decades after making its mark on the world forever, Avenue Q is a play just as irreverent and brilliantly funny as ever. At the center of this story is Princeton, who is a recent graduate trying to figure out where his place is in the world. When he finally lands a shabby apartment on Avenue Q, he finds himself surrounded by an eclectic mix of neighbours, humans and puppets alike. They are all wrestling with the same incredibly messy realities of what it means to be an adult — things like love, work, rent, and finding purpose.
This new West End production reunites the show with its original Broadway director, Jason Moore, and original puppet designer, Rick Lyon, bringing one of musical theatre’s most beloved modern comedies back to the stage and breathing new life into it. The musical has music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, with the book by Jeff Whitty.
Avenue Q in London stars Emily Benjamin as Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut, Noah Harrison as Princeton and Rod, Meg Hateley as Mrs T and a Bad Idea Bear, Oliver Jacobson as Brian, Charlie McCullagh as Nicky, Trekkie Monster and a Bad Idea Bear, Amelia Kinu Muus as Christmas Eve, and Dionne Ward-Anderson as Gary Coleman.
Together, they are joined by a wonderful creative team including set design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Jean Chan, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, and sound design by Paul Groothuis.
Sincere and gleefully funny, Avenue Q is back and better than ever. It promises to be a night out that families will not forget.
