About The Great Indaba

A co-production with MGC. National Theatre Director Indhu Rubasingham (The Jungle Book) will direct The Great Indaba by Moira Buffini (Handbagged), dramatising how the 1998 Good Friday Agreement took a big step forward at an extraordinary meeting in South Africa.
How do two warring factions ever find a path to peace? The Great Indaba dramatises how the 1998 Good Friday Agreement started life at an extraordinary meeting in South Africa between the new National Unity Government led by Nelson Mandela and the bitter political rivals within Northern Ireland.
This inspirational true story of diplomacy gives hope to the idea that peace can always be achieved even in the greatest areas of conflict.
