Five Guys Named Moe Information

The musical revue Five Guys Named Moe began life at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in 1990, based on a musical short by Louis Jordan from 1943. The show has a book by Clarke Peters, and makes use of the back catalogue of songs from Louis Jordon. Sir Cameron Mackintosh transferred the production from Stratford East to the Lyric Theatre in London's West End in December 1990, where it enjoyed considerable success for 5 years, moving to the Albery Theatre (now the Noël Coward Theare) in May 1995. The show won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment in 1991, and enjoyed a Broadway transfer in 1992, running for 445 performances.

The simple plot revolves around Nomax, recently split from his girlfriend and without any money. But his spirits will not be dampened for long - whilst listening to music on the radio at 5 o'clock in the morning, five guys (Big Moe, Four-Eyed Moe, Eat Moe, No Moe and Little Moe) jump out of his 1930s style radio and lift his spirits, comforting and cajoling him out of his rut with the music of Louis Jordan. Jordan's greatest rhythm and blues hits feature, including Early In The Morning, Choo Choo Ch'Boogie and Saturday Night Fish Fry.

This major new production of the hit West End and Broadway musical, Five Guys Named Moe features the toe-tapping and irresistible hits of jazz legend Louis Jordan. Directed by Clarke Peters with musical staging and choreography by Andrew Wright, inspired by Charles Augins' original choreography it features set and costume design by takis, lighting design by Philip Gladwell and sound design by Ben Harrison.

Performed at The Marble Arch Theatre which has been designed specifically to transport the audience back to the engrossing jazz bars of 1940s New Orleans. A unique, circular auditorium will ensure that the action takes place all around the theatre and pre and post-performance drinks never felt so good in the theatre's authentic 1940s foyer cocktail bar.
