Children's beloved story told on stage

One evening, Sophie and her mother are sitting down for some tea. But then, as they sip their drinks, the doorbell rings. They're not expecting any guests, so who could it possibly be? What they certainly don’t expect to see at the door is a big, stripy tiger!

Based on Britain’s best-loved picture book by Judith Kerr, the Olivier Award nominated smash hit show The Tiger Who Came to Tea returns to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2021. Join the tea-guzzling tiger in this delightful family show, filled with sing-a-long songs, oodles and magic and wonderful moments. It's based on the 1968 short story by Judith Kerr, and is one of the best-selling childrens books of all time. Kerr also the writer behind the 17-book series Mog, which similarly follows a cat trying to fit in.

Join the tea-guzzling tiger in this delightful family show; packed with oodles of magic, sing-a-long songs and clumsy chaos! A stunning stage adaptation of the classic tale of teatime mayhem... expect to be surprised!

The Tiger Who Came to Tea has also been adapted for television. The television film aired in 2019, starring David Walliams, Tamsin Greig, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Whitehouse, David Oyelowo, Clara Ross and Maria Darling.
