Attic Theatre Company presents 1936 by Tom McNab, at the Arcola Studio 1, a fringe venue in east London, from 6 to 24 April 2010.

Directed by Jenny Lee and featuring Jim Creighton, David Baron , Rolan Bell

A play about the Berlin Olympics. Performed by a 9-strong cast, the play conjures up the conversations and conflicts leading up to the Games, as seen through the eyes of American Journalist William Shirer. Placing scenes between Hitler and Goebbels next to debates in the International Olympic Committee and the American Amateur Athletics Union, the play reveals the controversies surrounding the event, portraying political and cultural tensions and the stories of the athletes involved, with Jesse Owens at the centre.
