Cirque du Soleil’s Totem to play Royal Albert Hall in 2019
Following the success of its run in 2011, Cirque du Soleil's Totem will return to the Royal Albert Hall from January 2019.
Totem explores the human species from its organic, amphibian state, to one with a desire to take to the skies and fly.
It features a number of different disciplines such as fixed trapeze duos, Amerindian dance, roller skating, rings, Russian bars and unicycling in a performance that reaches dizzying heights and unrivalled feats.
Totem is at the Royal Albert Hall from 12th January to 9th February 2019, with tickets going on sale tomorrow (Tuesday 6th) at 2pm.
Canadian group Cirque du Soleil, which was founded in 1984, has enjoyed a January residency at the Royal Albert Hall since 2003, but first appeared there in 1996. Its most recent shows at the venue include OVO and Amaluna. Totem was performed in both 2011 and 2012.
During its previous performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Totem was described as "characteristically extravagant and visually astonishing" (Evening Standard), and LondonTheatre.co.uk's Mark Shenton described last year's offering of OVO as "astonishing" with certain acts performed with "amazing precision".
