The Young Vic will reopen its doors later this year, with Hamlet being a part of the reopening season. Cush Jumbo will play the title prince in a new adaptation, playing at the Young Vic from 27 September - 13 November.

The Shakespearean tragedy will be transformed, with Greg Hersov directing the tale of power, politics and desire. Ahead of the production, the Young Vic artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah said: "I want to take this opportunity to thank each audience member who kept their tickets in the show through this period of uncertainty; I can't wait to have you back into our house, to step into the extraordinary world Cush, Greg and the company will create."

Cush Jumbo will play the eponymous character, previously nominated for an Olivier Award for playing Marc Antony in an all-female adaptation of Julius Caesar. On stage, she's been in The River on Broadway alongside Hugh Jackman, with television credits including The Good Wife and Vera.

Further casting and creative team to be announced, as well as an upcoming Young Vic season.
