Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Eugenius! The superhero musical will return to London later this year. Eugenius! begins previews at the Turbine Theatre on 17 March, with an opening night on 21 March, and performances to 28 May.

Eugenius! features a book, music, and lyrics by Ben Adams and Chris Wilkins. The show premiered as a concert at the London Palladium in 2016, ahead of two fully-staged productions at The Other Palace. The musical was due to transfer to the West End in 2018, but this did not come to fruition.

Inspired by 1980s nostalgia, the musical follows Eugene, a teenage boy and comic book fan who dreams of getting his superhero creations in the movies. Press material states: “Eugenius! is a show where geeks rule, dreams do come true, and everyone finds the superhero inside themselves.”

Casting and a further creative team will be announced at a later date. The Other Palace 2018 cast included Rob Houchen as Eugene, Laura Baldwin as Janey, Daniel Buckley as Feris, Marcus Brigstocke as the Narrator, and the voice of Brian Blessed as the Space Lord.

Eugenius! is at the Turbine Theatre.
