Credible Witness by Timberlake Wertenbaker, opens 13th Feb 01, following previews from 8th Feb 01, for a limited run to 10th March 01.

A young man flees to a distant land and vanishes. His mother follows, certain she will find him, but in this unfamiliar place all certainties seem to crumble. In this story of love and loss, Wertenbaker explores passions simmering in contemporary Britain: the longing for identity, the despair of fragmentation and the fragile hopes of lives redefined.

"CREDIBLE WITNESS" is Timberlake Wertenbaker's sixth play for the ROYAL COURT. Her previous plays include the award-winning "THREE BIRDS ALIGHTING ON A FIELD", "OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD" and "THE GRACE OF MARY TRAVERSE". She has also written "THE LOVE OF A NIGHTINGALE" (RSC), "AFTER DARWIN" (Hampstead) and most recently "THE ASH GIRL" (Birmingham Rep).

Spirit, by Improbable Theatre, opens 15th March 01, following previews from 14th March 01, for a limited run to 7th April 01.

SPIRIT is created by Julian Crouch, Phelim McDermott, Lee Simpson, Guy Dartnell and Arlene Audergon

Three performers play three brothers. Three brothers who break bread together and wait for their story to begin. The performers wait too. And when did a story not happen to three brothers? Spirit takes you to an Improbable world of ugly improvisation, headless puppets, fractured storytelling and visual imagery to find out what happens to three brothers, who are in a simple story that gets complicated when things don't turn out the way they should. If drama is conflict, is conflict still drama when the performers don't agree? That is really don't agree.

The show is directed by Julian Crouch and Arlene Audergon, and features Guy Dartnell, Phelim McDermott and Lee Simpson.

Improbable Theatre's previous productions include "70 HILL LANE", "LIFEGAME" and "COMA".
