If What I Hear is True by Soumyak Kanti DeBiswas

Conspirators Project presents If What I Hear Is True, at The Yard Theatre, in Hackney Wick, east London, from 28 April to 19 May 2012.

Written & directed by Soumyak Kanti DeBiswas. Inspired by T.S Eliot's poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.

4am in a nightclub in London: crushed among thousands, dancing to lasers and exploding vibrations. 4pm on a beach in Sri Lanka: alone with the sounds from a crackling radio and the enormity of the Indian Ocean. A play that moves between London's crowded nightlife and a deserted beach in Sri Lanka, exploring how people need to escape from an increasingly confusing world.

("The Yard is a theatre conceived by Jay Miller, designed and built by Practice Architecture, in collaboration with Christopher Daniel. A dormant warehouse in Queen's Yard, Hackney Wick was converted and split into two sections - one housing the theatre, the other a bar and café. Made with recycled and reclaimed material, the theatre seats 130 in a fully raked amphitheatre. The aim of The Yard is to foster vibrant and active communities where debate, discussion and new risk-taking work can flourish." )
