Kate Fleetwood to play Cruella De Vil in 101 Dalmatians
Initial casting has been announced for Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's upcoming production of 101 Dalmatians, a musical adaptation of Dodie Smith's original story.
Opening in May, the musical has a book by Zinnie Harris and music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge to tell the story of a fashionista with a dislike for animals, who steals puppies from around London for their fur.
Kate Fleetwood will play said character, Cruella De Vil, in Timothy Sheader's production. Her theatre credits include London Road, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award, Life is a Dream (Donmar Warehouse), Absolute Hell (National Theatre) and Macbeth (Chichester/Gielgud and Broadway).
101 Dalmatians will run at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre from 16th May to 21st June. Tickets are on sale now.
Sheader's creative team will include set and costume designer Katrina Lindsay, choreographer Liam Steel, puppet designer/director Toby Olié, orchestrator Sarah Travis, lighting designer Howard Hudson, sound designer Nick Lidster, and musical director Tarek Merchant.
This summer's Regent's Park Open Air Theatre season also includes productions of Romeo and Juliet in June, as well as Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel from July. Tickets for all Regent's Park Open Air Theatre shows are on sale now.
101 Dalmatians is at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre from 16th May.
