Princess Ivona at Courtyard Theatre 26 April 2011

Tower Theatre presents Princess Ivona, by Witold Gombrowicz, at the Courtyard Theatre 26 April to 1 May 2011.

Directed by Jonathan Lermit, costumes by Meryl Griffiths & Celia Reynolds.

Cast includes Ian Recordon, Anne Connell, Andy Barrett, Finnian Nainby-Luxmoore, Elliott Bhana, Joey Timmins, Ed O'Shaughnessy, Deepa Sutherland, Louisa Shindle, Sophie Porter, Niki Mylonas, Sally Hepplewhite, Christopher Yates, John Irvine.

When the Prince first spies Ivona, she appears to be something of a trial. Her lassitude is so shocking he decides to marry her as a grand gesture. The court is duly appalled. At first all seem to acquiesce, but Ivona's refusal to take part in the conventional life of the court soon has everyone fearing their inmost thoughts and vices are exposed. Is she innocent or a vengeful accuser? As the Prince turns his attentions away from the hapless Ivona, everyone begins to plot her unfortunate demise. If she were only to choke on a fishbone, perhaps order could be restored.
