UPDATE: Sister Act is now postponed to 2022, with Whoopi Goldberg no longer playing Deloris Van Cartier. Read here for more information.

Producers have announced that the London return of Sister Act at the Eventim Apollo has been rescheduled due to the current global pandemic.

The production, which was due to star Whoopi Goldberg in the role of Deloris van Cartier - the role she created in the original film, was set to run from 21st July to 20th August this year.

It will now run from 20th July 2021 to 29th August 2021. Goldberg is due to appear in the show alongside Jennifer Saunders, who will play Mother Superior.

On the announcement of the postponement, Goldberg said: "We are thrilled with the overwhelming support from people all over the world who have been buying tickets for Sister Act.

"We are all disappointed not to be able to do the show this summer, but Jennifer and I can't wait to see you all next year".

Ticket holders will be moved into the same seats for the equivalent performances by day of the week for the 2021 run. This means if you booked for the Saturday matinee on 25th July 2020, you will be moved into the same seats for the Saturday matinee on 24th July 2021. The Eventim Box Office or point of purchase will contact ticket holders in the coming weeks.

Further casting for the London run is to be announced in due course.

Sister Act will run at the Eventim Apollo from 20th July 2021.
