The Queen's Theatre in Hornchurch, Greater London, will present Bernard Pomerance's Tony Award-winning drama The Elephant Man from 17 April to 9 May 2015.

The production will be directed by Simon Jessop and feature the Theatre's permanent company of actor-musicians, blending live theatre with film footage with an original soundtrack.

The drama follows the true story of the famous 19th century Londoner John Merrick - young, intelligent but notoriously known as 'The Elephant Man' because of his terrible physical deformities. Despite his intelligence and gentleness, Merrick's shocking appearance means he is shunned by the community and forced to scrape a living as a side-show freak attraction - until even this cruel industry leaves him abandoned and helpless.

The cast will include James Earl Adair, Ellie Rose Boswell, Fred Broom, Tom Cornish, Joanna Hickman, Megan Leigh Mason and Stuart Organ. It will feature set and costume design by Mark Walters, musical composition and direction by Steven Markwick, lighting design by Matt Eagland, sound design by Nik Dudley and projection designs by Dan Crews.
