Unveiling Hagar by Gloria Tessler at New End 20 Jan

Golding-Stern Productions presents Unveiling Hagar, by Gloria Tessler at the New End Theatre, a fringe venue in Hampstead, north London, from 20 Jan to 13 Feb 2010.

Directed by Ben De Wynter, the cast includes Barry Davis, Ellie Dickens, Shani Erez, Jennie Lathan, David Sparks, Richard Woolnough.

A Palestinian-Jewish love story. Max Goldwater, an ageing Jewish widower falls in love with Layla, a young Palestinian devoted to the liberation of her country. Max carries with him both the burden of his father's memories as an Allied soldier at the liberation of Auschwitz, and the collective memory of persecution. Max and Layla are challenged by their own histories, their own family roles and have to struggle to retain trust, loyalty and identity. Max and Layla play out their personal drama against the intensity of family life and the wider political conflict of the Middle East.
