Vassa Zheleznova at the Southwark Playhouse
The Faction will present Vassa Zheleznova by Maxim Gorky in a new version by Emily Juniper at the Southwark Playhouse in south London from 15 June to 9 July 2016, with an official opening on 17 July 2016.
"Vassa is the head of the business, head of the family, a self-made millionaire. Exactly how far will she go to keep things that way? Attacked by the striking dock workers, disregarded by her daughters, humiliated by her husband, and we few people to trust, this matriarch has got her work cut out."
This new production transports Maxim Gorky’s play to the 1990’s Dockers’ Strike in Liverpool, directed by Rachel Valentine Smith.
The Faction is a theatre company that aims to reinvent classic texts for 21st Century audiences. They have won the Peter Brook Equity Ensemble Award and have performed internationally with a number of productions.
Tickets for the production are now on sale.
