West End shows to see for date night

To repeat the question asked in Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical, is this love that we’re feeling? Dinner and drinks may be a standard date night affair for any London evening, but why not feel the love in the air with a West End show as an extra treat. Take your date to the bright lights of Theatreland for a night to remember.

Whether you’re planning a surprise date night or you’re marking a momentous occasion, there’s a West End show to make your night memorable. Wanting to hear your wedding song at Moulin Rouge: The Musical? Or see true love unfold in Pretty Woman? Plan a romantic date night to remember and fall in love with the West End.

Who cares if this is the first time in forever that you’re planning a West End date night? Love is an open door at Frozen, the heartwarming musical that’s wowing audiences of all ages. Sure, the 2013 Disney film may appear as though it’s tailored to a younger demographic, but it’s the new must-see musical for grown-ups too. There’s an unbelievable ice bridge that beggars belief, and a dress change that rivals the designer outfits in London Fashion Week. Escape the real world for a few hours and become a big kid again at Frozen.

Frozen is the first musical to open at a newly-renovated Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which is now complete with a new bar. Toast to your West End date night with a frozen cocktail (or two!) and say cheers to the coolest show in town.

If you’re looking for a trip down memory lane to reminisce over years gone by with your lover, Pretty Woman will make any date night big… no… huge.

Back to the Future: The Musical

When did you first feel the power of love? For Back to the Future’s Marty McFly, it was in 1955, 30 years before he was actually born. Taken back in time in a DeLorean, thanks to mad scientist Dr. Emmett Brown, Marty has to make sure his parents fall for one another so that he can get back to the present day.

If you’re a fan of the Back to the Future movies, you won’t have your heart broken by the stage adaptation. While a new generation of audiences are going crazy for Back to the Future, it’s the ideal show for a nostalgic date night in London too. There’s Back to the Future hits like “Johnny B. Goode”, and the story is co-created by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, who worked on the original films. We wish we could time travel to all the coolest times in history. But you can get as close to that with Back to the Future tickets.

William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet is considered by many as the archetypal love story. But what would happen if that fatal ending was no more, and Juliet lived her best life? That’s what happens in & Juliet, the pop-fuelled musical where females take control of their own story, thanks to Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway rewriting the narrative. In editing the story, romance isn’t limited to just Romeo and Juliet. There’s blossoming love stories between May, a non-binary character, who falls for Francois, as well as the Nurse becoming head over heels for Lance.
