Girl From The North Country Information
The Old Vic transfer this world premiere of Girl From the North Country, an electrifying new work from esteemed playwright Conor McPherson along with classic songs from Bob Dylan, to the West End at the Gielgud Theatre following its run at the Noel Coward Theatre.
Duluth, Minnesota in the midst of the Great Depression. A family adrift, their future on a knife edge. Lost and lonely people drifting through rooms of their guesthouse. But Nick Laine thinks he's seen a way out...
Girl From the North Country returns to the West End at the Gielgud Theatre from 10th December 2019. Tickets are on sale now.
Conor McPherson received the 1999 Olivier Award for Best New Play for The Weir and is considered to be one of the great contemporary Irish playwrights. His works have been produced both in the West End and on Broadway, including Shining City, The Seafarer and The Night Alive which received the 2014 New York Drama Critics Circle award for Best Play.
The legendary Bob Dylan recently received the Nobel Prize in Literature for his poetic expression through song. A prominent figure in the music industry for over 50 years, Dylan has received 12 Grammy Awards, an Oscar and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His music has inspired millions, and was a revolutionary sound for America in the 1960s. His hit songs include 'Blowin' in the Wind', 'The Times They Are a-Changin'', 'Desolation Row' and 'Like A Rolling Stone.'
The production originally ran at the Old Vic in July 2017 to wide critical acclaim for the cast, the story and the haunting arrangements of Dylan's classic numbers. It later transferred to the Noel Coward in the West End for a short run from 29th December 2017 to 24th March 2018.
