Indecent Proposal Information

What would you do for a million dollars? That question is at the heart of Indecent Proposal, originally a novel that was turned into a Hollywood blockbuster.

The Indecent Proposal musical follows a similar storyline as its previous counterparts. Audiences will meet Jonny and Rebecca, a loved-up couple who are content with their lives even though they’re struggling to make ends meet. That is, until Rebecca meets businessman Larry Harris, who offers her a million dollars and a chance at a new life — but the true cost is her fidelity to her partner. Sure, a million bucks is a life-changing sum of money. But what matters more, her bank account or her heart?

When the Indecent Proposal story was first published, readers couldn’t believe the subject matter. This controversy extended to the 1993 film adaptation, with critics panning the Robert Redford and Demi Moore movie. But even with scathing reviews, audiences couldn’t get enough of Indecent Proposal, and it went on to be a box office hit. For the Indecent Proposal musical, elements of the story are rewritten to be in line with modern-day issues. What remains intact is its shocking story of love, lust, and lasciviousness.

The Indecent Proposal musical features original music by Michael Conley and Dylan Schlosberg in addition to music adapted from the Indecent Proposal film soundtrack, with songs by Sheena Easton, Seal, and Lisa Stansfield. Anna Kelsey’s scenic design transports audiences to Atlantic City, known for its glitzy nightclub and casinos.
