About Jews. In Their Own Words.

Discover the shocking legacy of antisemitism in Britain and what it means to be a Jewish person in modern-day society in Jews. In Their Own Words. Jews. In Their Own Words tickets are available on London Theatre now.

In recent years, West End shows have focused on the lives of Jewish people: Leopoldstadt, Camp Siegfried, and Bad Jews to name a few. Jews. In Their Own Words takes it one step further, as it uses stories told by real people to weave a story of modern Britain today.

There’s no made up people here. Jews. In Their Own Words. aims to ground the true stories and events of Jewish people in truth. That's down to writer Jonathan Freedland using verbatim interviews of people from all walks of life. Six actors present stories from social workers, doctors, politicians, and students, as well as the thoughts of refugees and Talmudists as they explain what it means to follow the Jewish faith. By exposing the roots of antisemitism, the play aims to shine a spotlight on our human behaviour.

Don’t expect Jews. In Their Own Words. to be a series of speeches. As well as spoken word and monologues, there’ll also be singing, live music, and plenty of English irony. Jews. In Their Own Words. may only run at the Royal Court for six weeks, but its stories will leave a lasting impact on British theatre.
