Cirque du Soleil began performing at London's Royal Albert Hall in 1997, and have staged 12 separate shows over the quarter century. Kurios marks a development in Cirque London shows — the Royal Albert Hall now boasts permanent steelworks in order to accommodate a larger variety of acts.

Cirque du Soleil started small in 1979 when professional firebreather Guy Lalibert collaborated with producer Gilles Ste-Croix and organiser Daniel Gauthier were granted money to stage a production based on Jacques Cartier's discovery of Canada. They performed under the name 'Le Grand Tour du Cirque du Soleil'. Now, Cirque du Soleil are the largest circus producer, with 19 Cirque shows worldwide, all showcasing death-defying stunts.
