When all-consuming passion becomes a royal scandal.
Crown Prince Rudolf is tormented by dark obsessions, shared only by the beautiful Baroness Mary Vetsera. Stifled by the oppressive conventions and pageantry of the Austro-Hungarian court, Rudolf and Mary start meeting in secret. As fervent desire combines with a fascination for death, what begins as a clandestine love affair hurtles towards tragedy. Can either of them survive this twisted love affair?
History will play out in front of your eyes with Kenneth MacMillian’s signature ballet Mayerling returning to Covent Garden this spring.
