About End of the Rainbow

Step into the heartbreaking yet moving world of Judy Garland in End of the Rainbow, Peter Quilter’s play about the final chapter of one of the most important performers of the 20th century. Book End of the Rainbow tickets on London Theatre.

End of the Rainbow is a play set in London in 1968, following Judy Garland as she prepares for a series of concerts at the legendary Talk of the Town. While the world still adores her, things are different behind closed doors. Underneath the glamour and applause is a performer fighting for control and the strength to keep moving forward. She continues to perform despite her struggle with addiction, and the play explores the woman behind the icon. A woman of humour and love, who is under immense pressure in a life always under the spotlight.

This new production stars Jinkx Monsoon as Judy Garland. Monsoon is a two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race winner and Broadway performer. Monsoon brings Garland’s voice and emotional volatility to the stage in a role blending drama with live musical performance with great class. The cast also includes Jacob Dudman as Mickey, Adam Filipe as Anthony, and Fred Double as Newsreader/ASM.

End of the Rainbow in London is written by Peter Quilter and directed by Rupert Hands. The creative team includes musical supervision and orchestration by Leo Munby, lighting by Prema Mehta, sound by Tony Gayle, and set and costume design by Jasmine Swan.

This production is running at Soho Theatre Walthamstow for a strictly limited season, offering a theatrical understanding of Garland as she neared the end of her life and career, with a story that is incredibly moving. End of the Rainbow combines intelligent wit with great pain, as well as some of Garland’s best-known songs.
