A musical version of American Psycho will return to the Almeida Theatre, as part of artistic director Rupert Goold's final season at the venue.

Speaking about the announcement, Goold said: “I will be revisiting my production of American Psycho, the show with which I launched my tenure back in 2013 – partly to explore what may have changed since then."

Based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis's novel, American Psycho follows Wall Street trader and serial killer Patrick Bateman, who indulges in violent fantasies while maintaining a polished, successful facade. The musical has a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and music and lyrics by Duncan Sheik.

In a review of the original production, our critic said: "Rupert Goold's vivacious production is equally riveting to watch throughout, providing constantly visual engagement through exciting use of Finn Ross's video that is projected onto Es Devlin's white box designs."

It is unconfirmed whether any of the show's original stars, including Matt Smith, Lucie Jones, Katie Brayben, Jonathan Bailey, and Susannah Fielding, will return.

Performances will run at the venue from 24 January – 14 March, 2026.
