Arthur Darvill to star in ‘Oklahoma!’ at Young Vic
The 2019 Broadway production of Oklahoma! opens in London this spring.
The Oklahoma! production at the Young Vic is a London transfer of the 2019 Broadway revival, which won a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Set in the early 20th century on land which would soon become the state of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma! musical follows a love triangle between farm girl Laurey, cowboy Curly and farmhand Jud. Oklahoma! features songs by Rodgers and Hammerstein, including "Oh What A Beautiful Mornin'" and "I Cain't Say No."
Arthur Darvill and Anoushka Lucas will play Curly McLain and Laurey Williams in Oklahoma! Patrick Valli will reprise the role of Jud Fry from the 2019 Broadway production. Liza Sadovy will play Aunt Eller and Marisha Wallace will star as Ado Annie.
The Oklahoma! cast is completed by Raphael Bushay as Mike, Greg Hicks as Andrew Carnes, Rebekah Hinds as Gertie Cummings, Ashley Samuels as Cord Elam and Marie Mence as the lead dancer.
In a review of Oklahoma! for New York Theatre Guide, "In the end, this will not be what you expected, but you may find yourself connected to these folks in a way you did not foresee."
The Oklahoma! Creative team includes direction by Daniel Fish, choreography by John Heginbotham, co-set design by Laura Jellinek and Grace Laubacher, costume design by Terese Wadden, lighting design by Scott Zielinski and sound design is by Drew Levy.
Oklahoma! is at the Young Vic from 26 April to 25 June.
