'Billy Elliot The Musical' names West End cast for title role

Four child actors will play the young boy, and one Olivier Award-winning performer from the musical's original London production will return as his older self.

Initial casting has been named for Billy Elliot The Musical in the West End and on the national tour, with four boys sharing the role of the title character. The West End run will play at the Adelphi Theatre from 12 February to 31 July 2027.

Sharing the role of Billy are Noah Mannion (12 years old from Stockport), Rafferty Smale (12 years old from Leigh-on-Sea), Spencer Collins (13 years old from California), and William Gurney (12 years old from Berkshire).

Additionally, Liam Mower will return to the show to play Older Billy. Mower was one of three boys who created the role of young Billy when the musical first opened in 2005, winning an Olivier Award for his performance alongside his co-stars.

Based on the 2000 film of the same name, Billy Elliot The Musical follows the title character's journey from boxing to ballet in a northern mining town during the 1984-85 miners’ strike.

The show features a book and lyrics by Lee Hall, music by Elton John, direction by Stephen Daldry, choreography by Peter Darling, scenic design by Ian MacNeil, costume design by Nicky Gillibrand, lighting design by Rick Fisher, sound design by Paul Arditti, hair, wig and make up design by Campbell Young, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Martin Koch.
