'Britain's Got Talent' winner Sydnie Christmas to star in '101 Dalmatians'
Sydnie Christmas won the UK talent search competition last year and has since performed on the Royal Variety Performance in front of King Charles III.
Britain's Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas will star as Cruella De Vil in the transfer of 101 Dalmatians The Musical at the Eventim Apollo. The show plays a limited run from 18 July to 30 August.
The casting marks Christmas's return to the stage following her professional debut in Lazarus – The David Bowie Musical and, most recently, Starlight Express in Germany. She won the UK talent search competition last year and has since performed on the Royal Variety Performance in front of King Charles III.
Christmas said, “I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this iconic character! There’s a bit of me that I see in Cruella, so I’m excited to see her evolve…”
The new musical version of Dodie Smith’s classic book is written by Douglas Hodge (music and lyrics) and Johnny McKnight (book), from a stage adaptation by Zinnie Harris.
The rest of the creative team includes director Bill Buckhurst, set designer David Woodhead, costume designer Sarah Mercadé, choreographer Lucy Hind, musical supervisor Alfonso Casado Trigo, lighting designer James Whiteside, sound designer Chris Whybrow, musical director Leigh Stanford Thompson, orchestrations by Jack Hopkins, and puppetry design by Jimmy Grimes.
Further casting is yet to be announced.
