Casting has been revealed for Clueless the Musical, which opens at the Trafalgar Theatre next year. Performances begin on 15 February.

Emma Flynn (Beautiful, Little Shop of Horrors) will make her West End debut as Cher Horowitz, while Keelan McAuley (Heathers the Musical, Grease) will join in the role of Josh. They both starred in the developmental run at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley in February earlier this year.

Amy Heckerling, writer and director of the original Clueless movie, said: “I’m thrilled for Emma to bring her own take on Cher’s unforgettable charm and Keelan to make Josh his own.”

Flynn said: “I’m beyond excited to step into Cher’s iconic shoes and bring her to life on the West End stage. Alicia Silverstone created such a beloved character in the original Clueless film, and it’s an incredible honour to continue that legacy. I can’t wait for audiences to rediscover Cher’s wit and heart in a whole new way, and I’m thrilled to be part of such a timeless story.”

McAuley said: “I’m so excited to be embodying Paul Rudd’s character from the original movie, on the stage! I especially can’t wait for audiences to hear the music in Clueless. KT Tunstall has created a great new score inspired by the music styles of the ‘90s. Combined with Glenn Slater’s amazing lyrics, they’ve really brought a whole new energy to the story.”

Based on the 1995 film, which is loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma, Clueless the Musical follows popular high-school student Cher Horowitz, who is known for her unique matchmaking talent. When new girl Tai joins their school, Cher takes takes it upon herself to perform her biggest makeover yet.

The musical has a book by the the original film's writer/directory Amy Heckerling, while the score is by singer-songwriter KT Tunstall and the lyrics are by Grammy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid, Sister Act). Rachel Kavanaugh directs, with choreography by Olivier Award winner Kelly Devine (Come From Away).
