Complete casting has been set for the world-premiere stage adaptation of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s Academy Award-winning film The Lives of Others, starring the previously announced Keira Knightley, Stephen Dillane and Luke Thompson. Performances run from 29 October 2026 through 9 January 2027 at the Adelphi Theatre.
Joining Knightley as Christa-Maria Sieland, Dillane as Hauptmann Gerd Wiesler, and Thompson as Georg Dreyman are Jamie Ankrah, Jake Benson, Matt Ray Brown, Lucy Doyle, Calum Finlay, Josh Gordon, Paul Higgins, Leda Hodgson, Nick Holder, Sibylla Meienberg, Irfan Shamji, Richard Sutton, and Andrew Woodall.
Robert Icke adapts and directs Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s Academy Award-winning 2007 film about a writer and an actor who are placed under state surveillance. As their spy listens for evidence of subversion, he finds his own life changed by the couple and begins to question his loyalties.
The Lives of Others reunites Icke and producer Sonia Friedman following their collaborations on productions including Oedipus, Manhunt, Hamlet, The Doctor, Oresteia, and 1984.
The production has design by Hildegard Bechtler, lighting design by Jon Clark, sound design by Giles Thomas, and original music by the multi-award-winning composer Max Richter.
