David Ireland’s Cyprus Avenue to return to the Royal Court in 2019
Following sell-out runs in the UK and overseas, David Ireland's play Cyprus Avenue is set to return to the Royal Court Theatre in February 2019.
The play is about an Irish man called Eric, who is convinced his five-month-old granddaughter is actually Gerry Adams, the leader of Sinn Féin.
Directed by Royal Court artistic director Vicky Featherstone, the play premiered at the theatre in 2016, before touring to Ireland and New York earlier this year.
It will return to the Royal Court starring Stephen Rea from 14th February to 16th March 2019.
David Ireland's other work includes Everything Between You (which premiered at the Finborough Theatre last year), Summertime, The End of Hope and Half a Glass of Water.
Rea won an Irish Times Theatre Awards in 2017 for his performance of the role of Eric in Cyprus Avenue, but is also known for his performances in the films Crime of the Century, The Honourable Woman, V for Vendetta and The Crying Game.
Cyprus Avenue is at the Royal Court from 14th February to 16th March 2019.
